Mentor

There were many people involved in the success of this project. My adviser Keli Veillette was constantly advocating for me, insuring I had supplies, and leading me through the requirements for this course and eventually for Expofest. Ms. Korynne Decloux from Fairchild Wheeler Magnet and Isaac Macwan PhD from the University of Bridgeport guided me through the final steps of gathering and analyzing data.

Results and Discussion

The results of this study are ongoing and there is always more analysis that can be done. Methodology 2 of this study aimed to provide more quantitative data to support the qualitative findings in methodology 1. Conclusions were drawn using the information that surfaced during one preliminary evaluation period and two consequential experiments.

Future Studies
Future Studies

The purpose of this study was the gather data that could provide insight into the various nanostructures in nature and how they behave in the presence of bacteria. It is hoped that studies like this one can be used to help design an efficient nanofiber material to prevent biofilm formation in vulnerable environments such as hospitals. Biomimicry and nanotechnology are possible solutions to the ever growing epidemic of failing antibiotics and disinfectants around the world.
